brachial plexus surgery neurolysis

Results of brachial plexus surgery done in brahmanand clinic faridabad. Patient had severe crush injury of arm along with fracture of humerus. He had C 5,6,7 injury . He under went surgery exploration of brachial plexus ,spinal accessory to supra spinatus nerve transfer , neurolysis of brachial plexus . After one year patient regained movement in upper limb. FFMT

A two year old result of free functioning muscle transfer done in 2016. Today 2/3/2018 patients sends me his video of movement achieved. He has reasonable elbow flexion thats is barely good enough for normal person , but these people are remarkably adept with these movements. They make best use of it. Free functioning muscle transfer FFMT is a complex procedure devloped for situations where no other simpler alternative is available. Aim of the surgery is to restore function which has been lost due to trauma or disease. rewari boy (C 5,6 ) injury

He is a 16 year old boy from rewari who father was working in indian railways. He sustained brachial plexus injury in a motorcycle crash. It was upper trunk injury .with a preserved hand functions. After 7 months of injury patient was planned for surgery. After exploration supra scapular nerve was found to be damaged along with upper trunk .Three nerve transfer were planned and done . Supra scapular to spinal accessory, oberlin transfer and somsack transfer were done. Reason I posted this video is through movement is less,but patient was happy. Continuous physiotherapy will improve movements. These nerv transfer are both extra plexal and intra plexal. But all are close target neurotization . Oberlin transfer is transfer of one fascicle of ulnar nerve to biceps branch, or fascicle of median nerve to brachialis branch .
